At Broadlands Cattery, we understand that preparing for a holiday can be hectic. Between packing suitcases, organising passports, arranging travel and making sure everything is ready at home, it's easy for small things to be forgotten.

One of the most important things to check before bringing your cat to us is that you have packed enough medication to last for the whole of their stay. We also recommend bringing extra doses wherever possible, just in case your travel plans change unexpectedly or your return home is delayed.

Many of our guests require daily medication, and we are very experienced in administering a wide range of treatments, including:

• 💊 Tablets and capsules
• 💉 Insulin injections
• 💧 Liquid medications
• 👁️ Eye and ear drops
• 🧴 Creams and topical treatments
• 🫁 Inhalers and other prescribed therapies

We are always happy to continue your cat's normal routine exactly as instructed, helping them remain settled, comfortable and healthy throughout their stay.

If medication runs out whilst your cat is boarding with us, replacing it isn't always straightforward.

Depending on the medication, we may need to:

• 🚗 Make a special journey to your veterinary practice or your home to collect more medication.
• 📞 Contact your veterinary practice for authorisation or a replacement prescription.
• 🩺 Arrange an emergency veterinary appointment if a new prescription is required.
• 💷 Cover additional travel costs, consultation fees and prescription charges, which would need to be passed on to the owner.
• ⏳ Spend valuable time away from the cattery and from caring for all of our other feline guests.

Some medications are prescription-only and legally cannot be supplied without veterinary authorisation. Others may not be immediately available, meaning there could be delays in obtaining them.

For cats with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, epilepsy, thyroid disease or other ongoing medical needs, missing even a short period of treatment can have serious consequences for their health and wellbeing. ❤️

Before travelling, we kindly ask that you:

• 🐾 Count enough medication for your cat's entire stay.
• ➕ Include extra doses.
• 🏷️ Ensure all medication is clearly labelled with your cat's name.
• 📝 Provide clear dosage instructions if they have changed since booking.
• 📅 Check expiry dates before packing.
• 📦 Bring enough syringes, measuring devices or other equipment needed to administer the medication.

We know that genuine mistakes can happen, and if they do, we will always do everything reasonably possible to help find a solution. However, ensuring your cat arrives with an adequate supply of medication helps us avoid unnecessary disruption, unexpected costs and delays to treatment.

Most importantly, it means your cat can continue receiving their medication exactly as prescribed, without interruption, allowing us to concentrate on what we do best—providing exceptional care, cuddles and attention to every guest staying with us. 🐱❤️
