️Helping Nervous Cats At Broadlands Cattery

🐱 Helping Nervous Cats Settle In at Broadlands Cattery ❤️

Leaving your cat in a cattery can feel like a big step — especially if they are naturally shy, anxious, elderly, or have never stayed away from home before. At Broadlands Cattery, we completely understand that every cat is different, and some need a little extra time, patience and reassurance to feel comfortable 🐾

That's why we always take a calm, gentle and individual approach to helping nervous cats settle into their holiday with us.

🏡 A Calm & Quiet Environment

Many nervous cats simply need time to observe their surroundings and realise they are safe. We never force interaction and always allow cats to settle at their own pace.

Our chalets are designed to provide:

  • Comfortable sleeping areas 🛏️
  • Warm, secure hiding spaces
  • Quiet surroundings
  • Fresh air and natural light ☀️
  • Plenty of opportunity to relax and watch the world go by safely

Some cats settle within minutes… others prefer a slower approach, and that is absolutely fine with us ❤️

🐾 We Follow Their Routine

Cats are creatures of habit, so keeping familiar routines can make a huge difference.

Where possible, we try to maintain:

  • Their normal feeding times 🍽️
  • Familiar foods and treats
  • Medication routines 💊
  • Bedding or toys from home
  • Preferred interaction levels

Sometimes even bringing a favourite blanket or item that smells like home can provide enormous reassurance.

👀 Careful Monitoring

Our team closely monitors all cats during their stay, particularly during the first 24–48 hours when nervous cats are adjusting.

We keep a close eye on:

  • Eating and drinking
  • Toilet habits
  • Behaviour and body language
  • Stress levels
  • General wellbeing

Many nervous cats begin by hiding away quietly, then slowly gain confidence once they realise their new surroundings are safe and predictable 🐱✨

❤️ Gentle Patience Matters

One of the most important things with nervous cats is patience.

Some cats love attention immediately, while others prefer us to simply sit nearby quietly while they build confidence in their own time. We always work around what makes each individual cat feel safest and most comfortable.

It is incredibly rewarding to see shy cats gradually begin to relax, explore, enjoy fuss and settle into their own little holiday routine 🥰

⭐ Experienced, Compassionate Care

As a fully licensed 5-Star cattery, we are experienced in caring for:

  • Nervous cats
  • Elderly cats
  • Rescue cats
  • Indoor cats
  • First-time boarders
  • Cats requiring medication or additional monitoring

We know how important your cats are to you, and we treat every guest as if they were one of our own ❤️🐾

📅 Thinking About Booking?

If your cat is naturally nervous and you would like to discuss their needs before booking, we are always happy to help and answer any questions.

We also welcome viewings, so you can come and see the cattery for yourself before your cat stays with us 🐱✨
